Grandmaster is a floating cutoff at 500 LP above the Master floor, capped to roughly the top 200 accounts per server. Reaching it means both hitting the LP number and maintaining it against a churning cutoff — solo climbers frequently oscillate between Master 400 LP and Grandmaster 500 LP for weeks.
A Grandmaster boost by a Challenger main pushes the account above the cutoff and stays there long enough for it to lock at week reset. Every Grandmaster order is claimed by a Challenger main, never a Master booster.
The Grandmaster cutoff is not fixed
Riot recalculates the Master / Grandmaster / Challenger cutoffs every 24 hours. Sitting at 505 LP is not enough — the cutoff can move to 520 overnight and drop you back. Boosters plan the final push for peak weekend hours to lock the rank cleanly.
